Our Clove Bud has a fresh fruity top note caused by trace amounts of lower aliphatic ketones. Faint acetic nuances render it refreshing and superior to distillations from other parts of the plant. Clove Bud oil is extracted by both steam and water distillation and yields sometimes more than 10 percent. This lot is about 79.05 percent eugenol and 7.1 percent eugenyl acetate, alpha humulene is about 1.6 percent. This spec is partuclarly nice and resembles a better Madagascar material. It is usually a lighter colored oil but may have more color depending on variables. The aroma is characteristic of the household spice and users describe it as spicy, sweet, warm, pleasant and christmas candy. The highest single constituent is Eugenol sometimes as high as 90 percent. Sometimes pure eugenol is used in the medical field, particularly as a local anesthetic in dentistry.
