The strong nose-opening smell of cough drops is mainly due to the presence of this top ten oil harvested from the leaves of the Australian Native Eucalyptus tree. It is no wonder Jeanne Rose uses Eucalyptus oil to treat her own asthma. She advises using it blended in chest rubs and pure in a diffuser. Aromatherapist Victoria Edwards of Fair Oaks, California advises Eucalyptus for Bronchitis. She uses a hot, wet washcloth with a few drops of the oil. She said “You can also put a couple of drops in your hand, rub your palms together and inhale it right from your hands.” Backaches are also treated with massage using diluted Eucalyptus oil. Judith Jackson, author and Aromatherapist says Eucalyptus is a valuable oil for treating Urinary Tract infections. She recommends a few drops in a bath. Eucalyptus is also an excellent diffuser oil to make homes smell cleaner. Although critics describe the aroma as medicinal that may be simply because of the association with cough treatments.
